2022 Grants
The Jenkins Foundation conducts twice yearly grant cycles, awarded in March and September. The following list provides a snapshot of the projects that reinforce our strategic focus areas and help to create a healthier Richmond region.
Fall 2022
Access to Primary Health Care
- Cross Over Healthcare Ministry - $75,000
- GoochlandCares - $65,000 - To support healthcare programs that provide a medical home for uninsured adults who have no other access to care.
- Lucy Corr Foundation - $50,000 - To support Lucy Corr Dental Clinic services for uninsured and low-income seniors with Medicaid coverage and to increase access to affordable dentures by all patients.
- Richmond City Health District - $75,000 - To support the Community Health Worker program that focuses on relationship building to connect residents who experience the effects of inequitable policies to primary care, community services, COVID mitigation, and substance abuse prevention.
- Rx Partnership - $30,000 - To distribute medication for Virginia’s uninsured, specifically through collaborations with CrossOver Healthcare Ministry (COM) and Health Brigade.
- SOAR 365 - $25,000 - To support the Pediatric Therapy Program expansion.
- South Richmond Adult Day Care Center - $25,000 - To enhance the health and quality of life for older adults and adults with disabilities through a structured, supportive, social atmosphere and therapeutic recreational programs.
Access to Mental Health Care
- Circle Center Adult Day Services - To expand adult day services to serve the most at risk aging adults in the region.
- Free Clinic of Powhatan - To provide quality, compassionate care to improve patients' overall health and well-being.
- Gateway Homes - To provide community-based mental health care services to historically marginalized and socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals living with serious mental illness.
- Heatlh Brigade - To provide primary care, mental health, and education services to vulnerable populations in the region.
- Jewish Family Services - To meet the physical, emotional and social needs of Richmond seniors and adults with disabilities, empowering them to live with dignity in their own homes.
- Virginia League for Planned Parenthood - To provide high-quality, affordable care while also helping patients manage costly and life-threatening conditions.
Prevention and Treatment of Substance Use Disorders
- CARITAS - To provide a long-term residential substance use recovery program on two campuses - one for men and one for women.
- Elk Hill - To provide multi-level interventions and counseling for drug or alcohol affecting youth in Elk Hill's group homes.
- McShin Foundation - To support women seeking recovery from addiction.
- REAL Life - To support programs such as recovering transition housing in person at the REAL Life East Center and through REAL houses.
- SAARA of Virginia - To support the Young People in Recovery Program, including a part-time coordinator.
Spring 2022
Access to Primary Health Care
- Access Now, Inc. – $50,000
- Assisting Families of Inmates – $25,000 to support the Health Encouragement & Assistance in Reentry for Thriving Youth (HEARTY) program.
- Better Housing Coalition – $50,000 to support the Senior Health & Wellness program.
- Conexus – $30,000 for capacity building support.
- Daily Planet Health Services – $75,000
- Family Lifeline – $50,000 to support Growing Well intensive early childhood home visitation services.
- Henrico Education Foundation, Inc. – $30,000 to support integrated healthcare for students from high-poverty schools in Henrico.
- Sacred Heart Center – $20,000 to sustain the Family Support Program.
- Urban Baby Beginnings – $50,000
- Virginia Dental Association Foundation – $30,000 to support access to dental care for vulnerable residents.
Access to Mental Health Care
- Challenge Discovery Projects – $30,000
- Chesterfield CASA – $20,000 to support volunteer-driven court advocacy for abused and neglected children.
- ChildSavers – $100,000 to support increased access to trauma-informed children’s mental health services through a school-based approach (Second installment of a three-year, $300,000 grant).
- Commonwealth Catholic Charities – $40,000 to support mental health counseling for uninsured and underinsured residents.
- Greater Richmond SCAN – $75,000 to support trauma-informed mental health treatment services.
- Henrico CASA – $25,000 to support volunteer-driven court advocacy for abused and neglected children.
- HomeAgain – $25,000 to support mental healthcare and substance use disorder counseling resources.
- Latinos in Virginia Empowerment Center – $50,000 to support culturally appropriate and linguistically specific mental health services.
